The biggest challenge of training is often getting your workout started. Even when you don’t feel like it, you need to just start the workout. 9 times out of 10, you will get in the groove and enjoy the workout. 10 times out of 10, you will feel awesome when you finish. No one ever regrets doing a workout. The main reason I workout is because it makes me feel great. No joke. You will feel especially stoked when you finish a workout that you struggled to get started. Completing a tough workout feels that much sweeter and that kind of discipline builds confidence and success.
Let’s be real. Some days can be brutal, schedule-wise. Work, kids, traffic, travel. Life gets crazy sometimes, but it’s important to make time for your health and it often gives you a quick boost and always creates lasting strength.
Get Prepared Mentally
Set some goals and make them personal. You have to want it for yourself. And write the goals down. You could write,
“1. Lose 15 lbs. by Christmas.”
“2. Stop eating sugar”
“3. Cholesterol down to 180 by January 1.”
“4.Have the best body if my life in 90 days”
Writing goals down sets things in motion and focuses your brain on the task. Announcing these intentions on Facebook is not the same as writing them down for yourself and meaning it. Do it.
Stick To A Routine
If at all possible, and anything is possible, get your workout done first thing in the morning. That way, nothing gets in the way, because there will always be something that intrudes on your schedule and the workout is the first thing to bail on. If you cannot make the morning training session happen, just push play every day. That is why workouts like P90X or Insanity are so successful. The schedule is set and you just put in the DVD and get it done. Consistency is the key to success.
Join A Challenge Group
It’s great to have a workout buddy that is counting on you to do the workout with them and vice versa. In today’s busy world, that friend can be tough to find, but an online support group can be just as good if not better at keeping you accountable. Check out my P90X Facebook Challenge Group. We have 10-12 people join every Challenge and always get great results. The group provides motivation, support and advice and makes teh whole experience much more fun.
Remember! We are all in this together!
